International Synergies was established in 2005 and devises and manages industrial symbiosis projects around the world.

Industrial symbiosis is derived around the biological metaphor of the natural eco-system; where all resources (including materials, energy, water, logistics, asset utilisation etc) fulfil a specific role in the industrial process and once used should be salvaged and if necessary modified or reprocessed ready for reuse elsewhere in the network.

There is increasing recognition of the potential of the industrial symbiosis approach, much of which can be attributed to the success of UK's National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP), our most well known programme.

To date we have assisted in the set up and implementation of industrial symbiosis projects in the UK, Romania, Hungary, United States, China, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, South Africa and Slovakia.

All of our projects are acknowledged for being innovative and for their contribution towards economies whilst also delivering significant environmental and social benefits.
