The scheme, which forms part of the UK Governments' Mexico Sustainable Development Dialogue (SDD) programme, will see a team of IS specialists working closely with government bodies, stakeholders, key companies and trade associations from Mexico and South America.

Managing Director of ISL, Peter Laybourn is among the team setting up the pilot IS programme in Mexico.  He said: "The Government in Mexico City acknowledges the impact IS can have on both their local environment and economy, having written it into their recent policy documents.

"The pilot programme aims to put into practice the theory of IS and reduce the amount of waste being produced and thrown away by industry.  In addition, it will also help to create cost savings as well as new business opportunities for the companies involved."

ISL draws on its knowledge and experience from past projects in the UK and China and facilitate workshops and discussions to identify and realise mutually profitable links between companies so that previously unused or discarded resources, including materials, energy and water, are recovered, reprocessed and then reused by others - to the benefit of all.  Links developed through this process deliver huge benefits in sustainability; increased energy efficiency, reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and an improved economy.
