The pilot promotes a closed-loop approach to sustainable consumption helping Industry reduce its detrimental environmental impact. During the pilot scheme the ISL led team worked with Yunnan’s Environmental Protection Bureau, training teams to use tools and techniques which introduce local companies to proven business solutions based around the principles of industrial symbiosis. A number of successful ‘Quick Wins Workshops’ have been held and key resources identified as being prime for reuse including gypsum.
The final mission to China takes place in November where the project team will presents it achievements and findings to UK ministers including the Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
