Birmingham to host International Conference on Industrial Symbiosis

International Synergies has secured a deal with Birmingham City Council which will see the city play host to an international conference on industrial symbiosis on the 12th - 14th June 2012.

The three day working conference will bring together the ever growing global community of industrial symbiosis practitioners, business advocates and researchers to share knowledge gained, innovation and ideas.

The conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to review the progress and development in the field of applied industrial symbiosis, with a spotlight on International Synergies’ established programmes.  It also coincides with the ten year anniversary of NISP (National Industrial Symbiosis Programme).

A key objective of the conference will be to develop a ‘concrete’ action plan for widening the application of industrial symbiosis worldwide and to follow on from the recent recommendation from the European Commission’s Environmental Technology Action Plan Eco-Innovation Conference in Birmingham, which called for a Europe-wide uptake of industrial symbiosis based on the NISP model.
