International Synergies Triumphs at edie.net Awards for Environmental Excellence

The company walked away with the award in the Best Carbon Reduction Project category for its National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP), holding off amongst others, May Gurney, the Metropolitan Police Service and AEA Technology.

Peter Laybourn, International Synergies' Chief Executive collected the award from actor, Chris Barrie, famous for his roles in British comedy classics such as The Brittas Empire and Red Dwarf.

Peter said: "This is such great news, not only because it's always gratifying to win an award, but in the public acknowledgement of the carbon reduction capabilities of NISP and therefore its influence in reducing the impact of climate change here in the UK.

"This achievement, however, is testament to the exceptional performance of the NISP practitioner teams and supporting staff across the country over the last five and a half years in delivering outstanding outputs year after year - so well done one and all!"

Edie's Awards for Environmental Excellence 2010/11 seek to celebrate the year's most successful green innovators and environmental breakthroughs.

Now in their fourth year, The Awards for Environmental Excellence, have been recognised as one of the top awards in Europe after being awarded RSA accreditation in 2009.

Having won the award for best carbon reduction project, International Synergies' NISP programme is automatically put through to enter the coveted European Business Awards for the Environment, fighting it out with the best of the continent's eco projects.
